Campomaggi - a unique character
The Campomaggi label was founded in Italy in 1986. It stands for handmade, unique bags in a vintage look. Guided by the credo: "time doesn't take anything away, it rather enriches", the founders attach great importance to designing bags that are independent of season and fashion. Fashion designer Marco Campomaggi inherited his design flair from his father, a sculptor. While still at school, he designed his first bag models and, with increasing success, bag production became his job. Campomaggi's bags are produced using a special, patented manufacturing process: First, the bags are made entirely from high-quality cowhide leather. Only then are the finished bags washed in a container with dyes and additives to give them their typical look. This subsequent dyeing process not only gives the Campomaggi bags their vintage look, but also makes each bag an absolute unique piece. Everything about the bag is intentional: the different colours on the surface and the almost oxidised fittings are characteristics that enrich the bag and make it timeless. Campomaggi stands for high quality products, handmade and a very personal companion. They are the result of a new philosophy of life: a return to the roots, which also shows the way into the future. Looking forward also means looking back and recognising one's own origins.
Used materials & production
Campomaggi bags are made according to a special manufacturing process (patented by CAMPOMAGGI & CATERINA LUCCHI): The bags are made entirely from valuable cowhide leather in its natural colour and then washed in barrels containing dyes and additives specially selected to maintain their final, expected appearance. This "dyed-after-manufacturing" technique not only gives CAMPOMAGGI bags a vintage look, but also makes each piece unique and inimitable. Nothing is left to chance: The heterogeneous colour on the surface of bags, the almost oxidised fittings are properties that enrich the product and make it timeless.
The materials used for CAMPOMAGGI bags are full-grain 100% Italian quality leather that can withstand the wear and tear of time, washing and dyeing processes. Over the years, these leathers gain in charm and softness; the more you wear them, the more they become personalized and part of you.
All fittings feature the CAMPOMAGGI logo: Bolts and rivets have a small fish that is related both to the star sign of the designer and to one of his greatest passions for hobbies and food. The colour palette is based on the earth's natural nuances: cognac, dark brown, dark blue, black and military green, but also dark yellow, red, grey and beige when used on so-called "coloured cowhide leather". Fabrics, linen and straps are all made of 100% environmentally friendly cotton and are tonal to the leather, as every single piece of the bag has been washed and dyed inside the bag itself.
