Product features...

are the historical selvedges, felled seams, extra reinforced back pockets with concealed pocket rivets, unwashed. Numbered leather labels from strictly limited small series make each part also a collector's item. All materials, such as buttons, rivets, yarns, leather and paper labels are obtained from Germany.

The substance that...

no longer exists in Germany. Denim weaving mills are extinct in Germany. That is why we source our fabrics from hand-picked producers in Japan. Japanese denim is considered to be the highest quality denim fabric in the world, characterised by special spinning processes, the highest quality cotton fibres and special dyeing processes.

This level is only reached by very few producers outside Japan, namely in the USA and Italy. The origin of the fabrics we use can be found in our online shop.

Der Schmale Blaumann

Historical workmanship with a modern fit. The body height is low and the silhouette narrow, the foot width at the hem a little narrower. However, the cut should NOT be confused with so-called "skinny" fits, which stand for extremely tight fits and were formerly referred to as "tubes".

Extra schmaler Blaumann

Our most modern fit. The waist height is low with a very narrow leg. Instead of a red and white selvage edge, the bright white selvage edge is conspicuous.

Der gerade Blaumann

Classic jeans cut with slightly higher waist height and straighter legs. Suitable for boot wearers, but no "boot cut". Both forms have a button placket and no zipper.

Concealed rivets

In historical jeans processing, the back pockets were reinforced with rivets to prevent tearing. Saddles and furniture were often scratched or damaged by the rivets, which is why from the 1930s onwards the more elaborate processing of concealed rivets began. This is an unmistakable quality feature that has not been used in industrial jeans production for a long time due to the extremely complicated and costly processing.

The back pocket machines commonly used in industry cannot be used for this process here. Even today, manual dexterity is required for this!

selvedge & felled seams

Denim fabric with historical selvage (selvedge - denim) is, in contrast to normal denim fabric today, woven on shuttle looms or shuttle looms as they were in use until the mid 1950s.

The weaving width is only approx. 75 cm due to the machine in contrast to the usual widths of approx. 150-170 cm today. The weft thread in the shuttle continuously covers the entire width of the loom in both directions, creating the historical selvedge. The colour-contrasting warp thread is the distinguishing feature of a genuine, high-quality classic denim fabric.

Whether the jeans are made of fabric with a historical selvedge can be seen from the outer seams of the turned-up seams.

Reinforced pocket

Every back pocket is subjected to heavy wear and tear during daily use. This results in chafed areas. Therefore our back pocket is reinforced from the inside in the lower area with pocket lining.
