The Jacksons
A hidden gem in Notting Hill since 1998, The Jackson was founded by sisters, former fashion PR Joey and costume designer Louise Jackson. A desire for a stage with props led to a shop where dressing up is not just for the young and colour is compulsory.
The boutique is full of colourful clothing, jewellery, gifts and homeware - one of the original lifestyle boutiques in Notting Hill with brands from all over the world. Over the years, the shop has evolved and now represents a spirit of uniqueness and sustainability that transcends fashion trends.
Being an ethical brand that takes a responsible approach to fabrics and the planet, while empowering women in society.
The bags
The Jacksons' good friend Gretchen from the Lacquer Chest on Kensington Church Street introduced The Jacksons to a man who had worked as a VSO in Bangladesh, and together they made a jute bag in 2012. It has since turned into a joyful design collaboration between The Jacksons' and skilled artisans in south-west Bangladesh, who not only make the beautiful and durable handmade jute 'word bags', but also fun and colourful beaded placemats and purses.

The Jacksons' beautiful and durable handmade jute 'word bags' are a pleasing result of a design collaboration between Louise and skilled artisans in south-west Bangladesh.
The partnership began in 2012 and The Jacksons now work closely with over 3000 women in Bangladesh, in an area where there are few job opportunities for them. "We do more than just design and create a brand: We strive to overcome poverty and improve the social status of women," says The Jacksons.
Through this dynamic collaboration, they now have access to free medical care and schools. Our women are paid directly, which gives them independence and status and empowers them to make decisions within the family.
A large percentage educate their daughters up to senior high school and some go on to university. This was impossible just six years ago.
In this way, The Jackson's are fulfilling a mission that is very close to their hearts - to create as many job opportunities as possible.
