The 1970s
fashion was extravagant, trainers were still trainers, shops closed at 1 p.m. on Saturdays, there was no internet and it would be another 20 years before fax machines were available.
Monika and Peter Sklorz founded ‘die form’ in 1971. They started out with design classics for interiors, from Le Corbusier to Mies van der Rohe, as well as unusual, innovative children's fashion. A pioneer of today's ‘concept stores’, so to speak.
The passion for good design and innovative design, for outstanding craftsmanship and special material qualities were the common denominator for the self-image of ‘die form’. The demand for longevity was the forerunner of sustainability. Values that have been lived by Ulla and Oliver Sklorz since the 1990s and still set the direction today.
The constant in the values has an ever-accelerating companion: change is the norm, especially in the fashion world, whether it’s seasonal designs or digital competition. Today, customers can find inspiration and shop online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The last decade has been marked by countless upheavals and structural changes.
The lived pure passion for fashion and good design is the very personal drive behind our commitment, our successful history, and our future.
Social media is directly engaged with international trade fairs, newsletters are sent out, manufacturers are visited on-site in Austria, Scotland, Italy, and Sweden, our own magazine is produced, and as a founding member of Oldenburg’s good addresses, we co-organize the Tweed Run. For all music lovers, there’s also the playlist from the store. What was it like in 1971 again?
Another milestone was and is our online shop. From the beginnings six years ago to today's concept of curated presentation with our fashion stories and a now five-member online team.
So, we had many good reasons to celebrate, but unfortunately, the back and forth of the pandemic threw a wrench in our plans.
But where to put the joy of the 50th anniversary? Our special collection "die form since 1971" is the almost logical result of long-term and often very personal collaborations with great partners and manufacturers. The passion for fashion connects us.
The unique pieces shown here are just the beginning, always limited to 50+1 pieces and always linked to a good cause. Number 51 will be auctioned for "Oldenburg helps Ukraine." It starts in April with the T-shirt from Merz b. Schwanen. Just follow us on social media, subscribe to our newsletter, or check out die-form.de for details and other promotions.
We look forward to a passionate future.
