Our legacy
Benamôr was founded in Lisbon in 1925 by a pharmacist who made miraculous ointments in his laboratory at Campo Grande no189. His carefully handcrafted beauty recipes were based on natural ingredients grown under the Portuguese sun: Lemon, Rose, Aloe Vera or Almond. Packaged in charming Art Deco tubes, it was an instant hit and all the "Lisbon Belles" were hooked, including Queen Amélie herself.
A century later
Benamôr's original beauty recipes are still handmade and prepared with love and care by experienced staff. Sustainably formulated with 95% highly effective natural ingredients chosen for their unique benefits, such as lemon from the Algarve or salt from the Aveiro lagoon.

Benamôr has traditionally used aluminium tubes since 1925 to promote sustainability and the protection of our planet.
Recycling aluminium:
- saves 95% of the energy needed to produce a new product
- Guarantees an infinite number of uses without loss of properties, best suited for cosmetics
The aluminium tubes are:
- 100% recyclable and 40% recycled
- manufactured in Portugal with limited impact on the environment
- hand filled & packaged
- more expensive compared to plastics, but this is our contribution for a healthy environment
